Supplier checks

Indian supplier verification — before you wire the advance

Importers, buyers and procurement teams abroad use us to check that an Indian supplier exists, is solvent and can actually make what it promises — through public records, its filed accounts and a visit to the premises.

What we check

  • Existence and status: MCA company master data, GST registration and return-filing record, import–export code.
  • Financial strength: filed financial statements — revenue, profit, debt and charges on assets — compared with what the supplier told you.
  • People: directors’ other companies, including struck-off ones, and who really owns the business.
  • Bank details: that the account you’re asked to pay matches the legal entity.
  • DIY version: how to verify an Indian company.

The site visit

  • Confirm the address, signage, operations and approximate scale.
  • Photographs of the premises, machinery and stock (with the supplier’s permission).
  • A short meeting with management on capacity, key customers and lead times.
  • Visits are an observation report, not a technical quality inspection or a certification of goods.

Where we cover

From our offices in Ahmedabad and Rajkot we cover Gujarat’s manufacturing belts — engineering, auto components, castings, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and textiles — and from Mumbai and Bengaluru the western and southern hubs. Other locations are covered by arrangement.

The report

A written report in English: what we checked, what we found, red flags and a plain-English conclusion. For bigger relationships — distribution, joint ventures, acquisitions — see due diligence in India.

Frequently asked questions

How do I verify a supplier in India before paying?
Check the company's status on the MCA portal, its GSTIN on the GST portal and its import-export code, read its filed financial statements, confirm the bank account matches the legal entity — and for larger orders, have someone visit the premises.
Can you visit an Indian factory on our behalf?
Yes. We visit suppliers' premises, mainly in Gujarat, Mumbai and Bengaluru, and report what we see with photographs. It is an observation and records check, not a technical quality inspection.
What are the warning signs of a fake Indian supplier?
A struck-off or dormant company, a cancelled GSTIN, filed revenue far below what is claimed, bank details in another name, and pressure to pay an advance to a different entity.
